Safety first
If you can smell gas, hear a hissing noise, or see soot marks around the fire — turn it off at the isolation valve and call us straight away. Faulty gas fires can produce carbon monoxide, which is colourless and odourless. Annual servicing is the simplest way to keep an older fire safe.
Landlord gas safety
If you let a property with a gas fire, the fire must be on your annual CP12 Landlord Gas Safety Certificate alongside the boiler and any other gas appliances. We carry out CP12 inspections as part of our routine work.

Turn it off at the isolation valve and give us a call. Don't keep trying to light it — if there's a fault you could be releasing gas into the room.
